Formula: (monthly fee + monthly add-ons) × 12 + activation + equipment/setup + shipping.

A few published prices, put in context.

Our comparison separates month-to-month billing from the regular 1-year-term rates. Life Assure lists C$34.95/month for Classic Home and C$54.95/month for Premium Mobile Plus. Automatic fall detection is an optional C$9.99/month upgrade on those order pages.

TELUS lists regular 1-year-term rates of C$45/month for Home and C$65/month for its mobile pendant, plus C$35 activation. Eligible existing customers can receive a C$10 monthly discount. Its month-to-month prices are higher.

These prices describe different configurations. A lower number is not proof that a product meets the same needs.

Ask about every layer of the bill.

  • Ongoing service: base monitoring, fall detection, lockbox rental, protection plans and caregiver features.
  • Getting started: activation, equipment, installation and delivery.
  • Leaving: cancellation charges, return postage, equipment replacement charges and any unused prepaid balance.
  • Renewal: what the plan costs after a promotion or fixed term ends.

Ask for a written total including tax. If a fee is not stated, leave it as a question rather than assuming zero.

Prepayment and a term are different decisions.

An annual prepayment may reduce the equivalent monthly price, but it ties up cash. Ask whether unused months are refundable if the service is no longer needed. Separately, a fixed service term may charge a fee for leaving early even when you pay monthly.

Compare the amount due today, the total over 12 months, and the cost of cancelling after three months. Those three numbers tell you more than “from C$X per month.”
